Welcome to the Priors Park Neighbourhood Project Tewkesbury

We created this website to provide local information and raise awareness of the services and support offered by PPNP.

We organise regular events and activities so do keep checking back to see if there is something you might like to try!

If there is a particular service or some information you need which we do not currently offer please get in touch with us to let us know.

Priors Park Neighbourhood Project has been serving the local residents of Priors Park since 2004 and originally based on Queens Road.

The charity is also known for short as PPNP which started with a small charity shop to help fundraise money to sustain the Charity.

The services offered were often a life line to residents through the internet cafe, careers advice from National Careers Service, advice and information drop ins from The Citizen’s Advice Bureau and GreenSquare Housing.

Due to new plans being implemented to the building on Queens Road by Severn Vale Housing a few years ago, PPNP were fortunate to find new premises at Jubilee II Neighbourhood Centre, York Road, Tewkesbury, GL20 5HU.

The building neighbours the Queen Margaret Primary School and Noah’s Ark Children’s Centre.  Although parking is limited, there is a layby outside the building, where we are mindful of parking issues at times, do advise any visitors to respect residents, to park sensibly and respectfully.

Services & Events

Since January 2018 the project has grown and enjoyed success with some very positive outcomes through the following activities:

Mondays – 10.30am – 12.30pm

National Careers Advice Service, CV building, cover letter writing, interview skills, job hunting, employer engagement opportunities, basic IT skills, use of laptops and PC Computers.

In August we welcome Adviza who deliver the National Careers Service for Gloucestershire and will be hosting our Job Clubs.

We continue to work closely with Tewkesbury Job Centre and other referral partners who refer claimants and are a pleasure to partner with.  The Job Centre have been very supportive of the PPNP activities.

The Job Club is open to all jobseekers regardless of employment status.

  • Some 10 people have found employment through attending Job Clubs and taking part in various DWP contracts delivered by Learndirect and The GEM Project.
  • Our own PPNP volunteers who help at the Job Clubs have also assisted in this success.
  • Some of our volunteers have too obtained employment and are embracing their new careers.
  • Those volunteers still help when they can and appreciate their continued support.  The first volunteer Alan Wilkinson who has been instrumental in the growth of the project and pleased to announce he just become a Trustee.

Employability type courses and training is available through our local training provider partners such as Adult Education, WEA (Workers’ Educational Association) Organisation, Adviza and other freelance tutors and organisations.

Tuesdays – 10am – 12pm

Various creative art classes are available with a varied schedule of events (attached).

We can also supply on demand additional classes through our recycled donated wool, materials, crockery, small items of furniture and other art materials.

Please let us know if you are interested in “drawing” “painting” “sewing” “embroidery” “knitting” “upcycling furniture” “floristry” “card making” “pottery” “mosaics” “fabric painting” “book art” “creative writing”

These are some of the pictures art work completed by those people who attend our art classes.  The Tuesday Art Class is ideal for those people with mental health issues, general health issues, isolation and looking to get back into employment.

  • GEM Project participants have grown in confidence so much that they now volunteer their services to assist in the garden, Job Club, basic ICT support, cookery classes and engage so much more in the art class groups.
  • Creative art subjects have encouraged hidden talents to aid “art therapy” with improved mental health, thus moving them towards employability.

9.30AM – 11.30AM

Citizen Advice Bureau

10am – 1pm

GreenSquare Housing in the Computer Room with computer assistance for housing matters, job search, basic ICT help.

9.30am – 12.00pm

We are pleased to partner with the WEA Org who deliver regular 10-week courses.

Next 10-week course dates

13th 20th 27th September 4th 11th 18th October 8th 15th 22nd 29th November

10am – 12pm session – computers in the workplace for beginners

12.30pm – 2.30pm session – computers for improvers

This will be our 4th cohort for basic ICT and has been very successful.  It was apparent from the earlier Job Clubs that IT is a constant need to keep up with a world of changes and of course job opportunities.

On average we have seen 9 learners per session, and those people will now move onto the improver sessions, thus making room for new beginner learners.

10am – 12pm

We are awaiting new dates for these sessions.

We have seen an average of 6-8 people who enjoyed 4 cohorts of Mindfulness and Meditation sessions which has been instrumental for those learners who suffer from anxiety and other mental health issues.  Those learners have given positive feedback and are interested in further sessions.
